Charice Rocked Italy Once More!
Posted On 01/24/2010 11:32:10 by AimHigher

Once again, Charice rocked the italian audience when she performed as a guest in a singing competition "Io Canto", aired live 23 January in Canale 5. She sang six times during the show in which she showed the best of her singing prowess running through her favorite songs like "I Will Always Love You", "Listen", her own single "Note To God", and a spectacular neck-breaking performance of her first interpretation of a song in italian, "Adagio".

One could see the high esteem of the producers and staff of the show for the hearthful warm welcome they gave to her. A short video of her life's success preceeded her entrance.

Introductory video and I Will Always Love You

Here's the translation of the introductory video:

"That which leaves literally someone stupified when you hear Charice Pempengco sings is her vibrating and powerful voice. Born and grew up in the Philippines, she became in a short time an international phenomenon attracting towards her the attention of the greatest musical producer, first among the rest, David Foster. So Charice, like in one of so many beautiful fairytales, realizes one of her greatest dreams.

"In this moment, her popularity is among the stars, and this is shown through Youtube in which she gained more than 13 millions hits. But Charice remains the usual girl, tied to her family values, especially to her mom, who helped and encouraged her to go ahead.

In the firmament of international music, surely, a new star is born!"

The crowd were so excited by the time they heard Charice's name mentioned. She was escorted by a young man as she entered the stage (the stage was so fastastic, by the way, fitting for an international singing sensation), and sang "I Will Always Love You" in which she nailed it with new riffs and runs that were so mesmerizing!

The producers were so proud to have her in their show, especially the host as he continued to expressed his awe in saying, like: "Incredible, awesome, stupendous, marvelous..."

Here are the other videos of Charice's performances:

Clear version of "I Will Always Love You"

Charice sings "Listen" with Cristian Imparato

Before she sang this song with Cristian, Gerry is so proud to comment some of Charice's accomplishments.

He said: "Wherever she goes she receives a warm welcome from all over the world, and whatever part of the world she has this same attitude... And she had the fortune, inspite of her young age, to duet with Boccelli, and also with her personal dream, Celine Dion... and I know that recently, she participated also in a film which is about to be released, which I think it was also a great experience... right? Charice then responded... that it was a great experience for her to sing with these great celebrities, and with that she's very happy!

Gerry Scotti greeted also her family, especially her mother, saying: "... who is always moved just like the first time we saw her in the film." "Thank you for being here with us!"

He then introduced Cristian, asking Charice whether she knows him. Charice shows that she knew him already as she readily expressed her impression of him. "When I saw him in YouTube, I said to myself: This is the end of me..." she commented, and Cristian responded "No, it is not true!"

Gerry said that Cristian dreamed too to have a duet with Charice and now his living that moment. He was out of words to express his emotions: "I don't know what to say to sing with her! It's a dream..."

So the two vocal phenoms exhibit their out-of-this-world-talents as they made their way through the rough ridges of the song, with its acute vocal-rending high notes for those who are unqualified, and gave the audience an jaw-dropping, breathtaking performance!!! Rightly so that at the end, after hitting and nailing the final notes, while the audience were still expressing their unquenceble thirst for more through round of applause, Gerry Scotti couldn't hold himself in exclaiming, "I am certain that tonight you have assisted, live on air, something extraordinary! I am convinced! Great, great, great!"

Simone and Lara came in and offered a bouquet of flowers to Charice with a big smile, truly impressed, especially Lara, by her performance. You can overhear her through the microphone saying, "Belli, belli, (Beautiful, beautiful...) You're number one!" Isn't that moving?!? Then Lara gave Charice a hug and a loud kiss!!!

"Okey, this is their moment, Scotti continued, let us leave them to enjoy it! Grazie Pittelli! (I think the one who arranged the song), Thank you, thank you, thank you, for it has really filled with harmony this marvelous performance. I announce to you, he proudly added with an exciting tone of voice, that Charice will be with us the whole night and will give us other moments like this! Grazie! Bravi, bravi, bravi!!!"

And the audience were impatiently excited to see and hear more from her!!!

For the first time in italian "Adagio" with Cristian Imparato

Gerry Scotti was just excited to show to the public the first italian song intrepreted by Charice. He asked it as a special gift from her. I have the impression that Gerry Scotti had foreseen that this song would just be ideal to show Charice's singing prowess that will make the public go wild. And it did! The long applause in stading ovation proved his insight.

The song is a power ballad with acute high notes with rough riffs and melismas. Together with Cristian Imparato, a 13 yr-old schoolboy, the duet turned into a neck-breaking performance that inspires an indescribable sense of awe and enchantment: "Un spettacolo divino cantate da due voci angeliche!" - a divine spectacle performed by two angelic voices!

Charice sings "I Have Nothing" and "Note to God"

Just before the announcement of the winners of the night, Gerry gave more space to Charice in his show by allowing her two more songs. He couldn't get enough of Charice, and since he had her in his show... it's  just worthwhile to "take advantage of her presence". (I had this feeling from him! hehehe)

Charice had a nice chorale stationed in different groups around the stage when she sang her "Note to God". As usual, she moved the audience to their feet after each song! Now for the fourth time she "came and conquered" Italy once more!!! She's gaining more and more italian fans getting ready for the release of her upcoming first international album. Good job!

In fact, Gerry, mentioned after she sang that Charice has an upcoming second single "Pyramid" coming out soon, and he endorsed it to the audience - millions of them watching from their homes!!!

Encore of "Listen" with Cristian Imparato

At end, after the announcement of the winners, so as to close the show, Gerry once more asked Charice to have an encore with "Listen"!

Someone posted an article in an italian site saying that the duet of Charice with Cristian ended up as a duel. With the "Listen" duet, Charice showed her apex of vocal prowess and greater musical experience, it says, and with the "Adagio", Cristian brought his war horse against Charice. It shows in the article that author was a Cristian fan, in which he concluded that Cristian got the victory over Charice.

If we were to keep in line with that writer's perspective, I would say that with this encore of "Listen", willed by the producer, the host, the orchestra, the maestro, and the whole production staff, it shows that Charice agained victory over the war horse of Cristian!

And she brought down the house!!!

Well said Jessica... Dang, thats a gud one esp this one :

If not for Charice and a few others like Manny, Arnel and Efren Penaflorida, who have shared the lime light these past two years or so, I have a difficult time finding a reason to be proud to be Filipino. When I look at the Philippine entertainment industry and marvel at their arrogance, idiocy and folly and how they treat these heroes with less respect as if they were a dime a dozen and even not as good or great as others more popular domestically, I begin to question the sense of values of those countrymen of Charice.

We have the same thoughts on this! For now & Forerver, Charice is the ONLY Pinoy artist that Im sooo Crazy abt.. lol

Great commetns Jessica!!!

Grazzi Aim! Well done and again thank you for your efforts in sharing with us non Italian speaking audience the essence of the whole appearance of Charice at the IO Canto in Italy. Without your translation, we'd probably be appreciating Charice's appearance at 50%. But with your effort, we now enjoy at least 95%. Big difference I should say.

I am in total agreement with you and smiling from ear to ear as I watched the videos and read your post. No doublt that this appearance of Charice has or will expand her following even greater now and will make a difference when her singles and album come out. She has again convinced and impressed upon the european market that Charice is a special talent worth whatever trouble, inconvenience or money they will have to shoulder to enjoy and patronize her music and performances, be it in concerts, CD/DVD's, radio/television appearances, whatever.  And aside from Charice's own pure and magnificent talent, I'm glad you noticed too, how the hosts and producers of the show treated and respected Charice and her Mom. From the sincere acknowlegement and greetings to the stage  and backdrop preparations and actual show and presentation. Everything so professionally done without sparing expense and fanfare. And Charice was just a guest and this show is not a fly by night or low budget, low rating show in Italy which is considered one of the much older and more technologically advanced cultures especially in the entertainment industry worldwide. And you can tell by the way the host, the musical director-conductor, all of these production people, and the other guests, and of course the audience, how well educated and classy they all are and more importantly, their attitude toward Charice.

The sincerity in their being honored to have Charice as their guest in their show, and their country is unquestionable and makes the Philippines look so, uumm, I don't know. So obviously plastic, superficial and unreal; trying too hard to present themselves as belonging to the class of leaders and trend setters in the industry, yet missing the most important aspects of the whole thing. Italy's hospitality is the real one and I always thought that the Filipinos were known for this trait but in Charice's case, why is the Philippines failing and turning out to be an embarrassing eye sore. Is it the way the local Philippine shows are structured and so "sardined" packed with activities or personalities that there is very little time to present ones' talent properly that it may be likewise properly enjoyed by the audience? Maybe there are too many personalities that the local Philippine shows want to feature, showcase and promote to the audience and viewing public. And Charice should be thankful she was included in the line-up and who cares about rehearsals, that's Charice's problem. Boy if this is the situation in the Philippines, no wonder Charice has but a few good appearances on those local shows. It looks and sounds like a local wet market place back there in the Philippines as far as Showbiz is concerned. No wonder also crabs thrive well there.

Well maybe it's not my place to judge them, and time will tell and people shall reap what they have planted and reward shall go to those deserving and the only thing to do is to support Charice and leave the rest to the Lord and their own fate. I'm sure this attitude shall soon change for the better., I hope. Thank you very much again Aimhigher. I really appreciate your efforts. (also for listening)
