Title: Charice's Christmas duet with David A

Blog Entry: This turned out to be a very good and beautiful duet of Charice and David Archuleta. It makes me nostalgic all of a sudden, just like remembering those Christmas seasons when I was little. I remember those times waking up early in the morning to the whistle of a friend before 4 o'clock in the morning and hurriedly getting dressed and jumping onto the back of my sister's bicycle as we joined our friends racing to those really early masses. It wasn't for the masses or anything religious that kept the whole group all excited and faithful to this annual early morning activity, but the wholesome fellowship of the whole "barkada" (gang) and the great food that would await us in one of the homes of a member. It was usually at my place because my mom always had those Christmas treats of bibingka, puto bumbong, hot chocolate, sometimes even dinuguan and puto, puto seko, pulburon and all sorts of goodies which really made the Christmas holidays a season to look forward to every year. Come to think of it, I really miss those wonderful times. I miss that feeling and anticipation and those days without having to worry about school which incidentally had us kids already primed up with their own sort of pre-holiday activities. My sister and I would have our own Christmas lists of things we wanted all written out in a special piece of paper which would get longer and longer as Christmas drew closer, and would ruin those red Christmas socks we'd put that list in and would hang up by the Christmas tree. This was the time of the year where my learning the concept of giving really went well in tandem with the excitement of receiving. I remember in my first grade in school, I'd have a little allowance for snacks although my mom would make sure that my lunch box had extra snacks tucked away, enough to share with my other ckassmates, so I really didn't need to spend anymore for snacks. I also remember that my sister and I would often argue about the amount of savings from our allowance we'd put away into our piggy bank after each school day because I'd have given most of my allowance away to the people I thought were less fortunate and poor. I always thought that this was the right thing but my sister always insisted that I could only do that and be in a better position to be kind if I took care of myself first. Somehow, it took me some time to understand that, because I'd always be the one broke and she'd always be the one who'd have money to buy more stuff. And finally, when we'd wake up on Christmas day and rush to the Christmas tree, we'd both be so overjoyed, happy and thrilled with all the presents we got and even forget what we really wanted and had on our Christmas list. The holiday season would not be complete though without our traditional visit to our relatives and friends who were less fortunate, as well as our visit to our "god parents" (ninongs and ninangs). I remember having to pick out a favorite toy or dress or something that I loved very much and made sure that it was in good shape and wrapped it ourselves and had someone in mind to give it to. And we'd bring these gifts to them and almost always get sick from eating too much of something, by the end of the day. I enjoyed and can say that I've had a good share of those pleasant and memorable childhood Christmases. I wish all of you would have your own too and bless your children with a good memory of Christmas. It is a very perfect opportunity to impart very important lessons to your young and with everything happening in the world today, this particular season offers the perfect atmosphere and media to impart to them the right values. Take advantage of it for such opportunities are scarce. After all, isn't the essence of Christmas the joy of having received the greatest gift from above? And wasn't that joy also borne out of the greatest sacrifice Someone gave? May everyone have a very blessed and joyful Christmas this year. I thank Charice and her family for the many joys she has brought into my life through her sharing of her talents. May we in turn share those joys with each other and to others who have not been fortunate enough to have known and experienced that joy. Many thanks also to the people behind these websites who have made Charice available. May your Christmases be joyful and blessed too. Jessica86s
